Been to the hospital several times before

As a patient though

But today it is different

As DOCTOR I am

Did what seemed impossible

Turned a vision into reality

Finally living my dream

As DOCTOR I am

Been there

Seen that...done things

Which is beyond the wildest dreams of even the blood related

As DOCTOR I am

Helped a son

Understood the pain of parent

Relieved the suffering of someone’s sibling

But when my family needs me

It’s difficult for me to be around everyday

As DOCTOR I am

Prescribe medicines

Advice healthy diet

Enough sleep

But skipping meals

Is what I do

Staying awake with the emergencies

As DOCTOR I am

Genetic errors

Developmental errors

Equipment errors

Medical errors

Any error...but first to be blamed

As DOCTOR I am

No weekend

No may day

No season

No natural disaster

Have to be at work any day

As DOCTOR I am

Can’t demand for my own rights

Can’t expect a pay rise

Can’t protest

Its crime to do anything else other than my duties

As DOCTOR I am

Did things which nurses are supposed to do

Worked like ward boy

At times became attendee of unknown

Can’t blame anyone for lack of staff or support

As DOCTOR I am

Sometimes angry

Sometimes selfish

Sometimes careless

Sometimes lazy

Sometimes emotional

As along with being a DOCTOR

A HUMAN I am!
